Data Allocation - Javascript Charts VanCharts data set

Data allocation is to bind data for categories and series of the chart. Generally, three options are required: category, series name and series value (if category is not included, then this option is unavailable). Category refers to values in the horizontal axis, which is also known as category axis; series refers to different series types of the same category, and corresponds to legend, which means only one "series" is allowable. Configure data as suggested above.

During series configuration, user can Use Field Value or Use Field Name to configure series name and value.

We will introduce how to configure data for column chart with different series methods based on the JSON Data mentioned above.

I. Use field value

Create a new chart template in the chart maker and select column chart and then subtype of 3D Column Chart (Horizontal) with data source from JSON Data Set. Use Field Value as series name as shown below:

II. Use field name

Based on the above template, modify Series Name as Use Field Name and select numerical value field to be displayed for this series in the Field Name drop-down list, and then manually input series name in the Series Name textbox. User can also use default series names as shown below:

Note: "Use Field Name" means series values are from the values in the field, and the series name can be modified, and such series can only be added one by one.

Save the template and click preview to see the following column chart:

Note: Not matter field value or field name is used, the series values shown in the web are the sum based on category and series.
